On 11 January 2022 at 18.00 (UK time), Dweezil Vadekerckhove will give an online talk for the Anglo-Turkish Society on the medieval fortifications of Cilicia.

He will discuss the development and spatial distribution of fortified sites from the time of the Armenian Kingdom (1198 – 1375).
Despite the abundance of archaeological remains, the Armenian heritage had previously not been closely studied. Fortunately, recent investigations offer new insights on the Armenian Kingdom in this region.

Dweezil Vandekerckhove is a cultural policy advisor for the governor of the region of East-Flanders; he is also the author of Medieval Fortifications in Cilicia: The Armenian Contribution to Military Architecture in the Middle Ages.
