Neriman Polat and Mürüvvet Türkyılmaz

December 27, 2013 – February 16, 2014

The works of two female Turkish artists who started exhibiting in the 1990s, and whose paths have crossed since then, will be showcased simultaneously at DEPO.

Neriman Polat’s work examines women’s struggle for existence, social paradoxes and pressures, family, and life and death. Meanwhile, Mürüvvet Türkyılmaz’s work draws upon the power of memory. In her oeuvre, Türkyılmaz investigates the intersection points of individual and collective memory, and questions the boundaries of social dichotomies and their long-established definitions.
