Not Quite As Thought

Özge Enginöz

November 15, 2013 – December 22, 2013

Mixer, Kemankeş Karamustafa Paşa Mahallesi, Mumhane Caddesi No. 50, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

Turkish artist Özge Enginöz presents her solo muti-disciplinary exhibition which includes canvas, collage, sculpture and video works. Enginöz questions the existential problems of our postmodern age – objectification of the body, identity problems, social pre-acceptances and individuality – and how these create a duality of body/consciousness in the individual. In her works, Enginöz features people who are faced with dilemmas in the civilisation they themselves created by combining the figurative and the supernatural on her canvas. Familiar and unfamiliar elements create a meaningful unity in the viewer’s imagination, and emphasise this duality of the present and the future.
