Nursing Modern Fall

Inci Eviner

December 6, 2013 – January 4, 2014

Acclaimed Turkish contemporary artist Inci Eviner, last seen at the 13th Istanbul Biennial with two very different works, presents her latest video installation at Galeri Nev.

In ‘Nursing Modern Fall’, Eviner transforms a fractured space into a stage on which several historical encounters are continuously performed. The Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Factory, for example, fuses with the interior drawings of Andrea Palladio, alongside an underground tunnel sheltering imaginary creatures, signifying refugees. The environment created by Eviner intersects different points of view to render the unexpected possible, and thereby questions the forces of modernism.

Commissioned by the Capitale Européenne de la Culture 2013, don’t miss this multi-layered work, in which, like in most of Eviner’s other offerings, a certain language (whether visual, literary or digital) is transformed into something completely unique.
