The Union, as its name implies, is the story of a happy convergence. This selection from the Erol Tabanca Collection, which Tabanca started in early 2000s, comprises of works created after 1950s by artists from Turkey and from several corners of the world.
The exhibition brings together the works by epoch-making artists in Turkish art history with those of young contemporary artists, thus in a sense uniting several creative generations. The show has been extended until September 11, 2020. The museum will then be closed until the opening of the new exhibition, At the End of the Day, on October 2, 2020.
Tanabe Chikuunsai IV, from the famed Chikuunsai family of bamboo artists, created a site-specific installation at OMM that will continue until July 1, 202. In this installation, Chikuunsai IV used ‘tiger bamboo’ grown only on a mountain in Japan’s Kochi region. His art highlights the four elements in nature – water, fire, air, earth – but also includes space, as well as the people living in Eskişehir and the exhibition visitors.
