- What’s On
Open Studio Days (Açık Stüdyo Günleri) is a unique initiative that allows Istanbullular to visit the studios of visual artists and non-commercial, artist-run spaces. Artists who want to share their work with a curious audience can do so without the need for an institution. By giving artists the opportunity to open their doors and embrace the wider community of Istanbul, Open Studio Days is making art accessible to everyone. The event, which is in its third year, is coordinated by Juliane Saupe and Deniz Beşer, and is run without financial support or sponsorship.
The studios and art spaces are spread all over the city, in such neighbourhoods as Taksim, Tarlabaşı, Cihangir, Galata, Karaköy, Tophane, Teşvikiye and Kadıköy. There are even some studios on Büyükada, if you fancy a visit to the islands. Click here to download the map; in addition, a print version has been distributed throughout Istanbul.
