Propaganda and War: The Allied Front during the First World War

December 24, 2014 – April 2, 2015

ANAMED Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations, İstiklal Caddesi No. 181, Merkez Han, Beyoğlu, İstanbul

Organised within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the Great War, this compact and fascinating exhibition displays historical objects, archival documents and Ottoman artefacts and memorabilia from the First World War from the Ömer M Koç Collection.

Curator Bahattin Öztuncay has selected various pieces such as glass and porcelain souvenirs, medals, pins, books, posters and postcards to provide insight into the cultural exchanges that transpired during the war. These included artistic activities, reciprocal visits, educational cooperations and the coordination and production of propaganda tools carried out by the Alliance countries: Germany, Austro-Hungary Empire, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire. The exhibition also offers important clues to understand present-day international relations.

The works are not for sale.
