On 16 December, Ancient Languages of Anatolia Summer Program instructors and former ANAMED fellows N. İlgi Gerçek and Selim F. Adalı will give ANAMED's December talk. Moderated by Piotr Michalowski, their talk will focus on the İstanbul Sippar Project, which aims to catalogue, digitise and publish the the cuneiform documents from the Sippar and El-Muhattap collections housed in the İstanbul Archaeology Museums.
Following a brief introduction to ancient Sippar (modern Abu Habbah, Iraq), they will discuss the formation of the Sippar collections and the history of Assyriology in late Ottoman and early Republican Turkey. They will then share the latest results of their ongoing project.
