- What’s On
The first solo show of the Turkish artist Ahmet Duru exhibits his latest series of paintings and drawings that present micro and macro perspectives of panoramic landscapes. By contrasting distant views with their close-ups, the artist examines how he perceives the world whilst also exploring the interrelationship between existence and extinction.
Using photographic images as the starting point, the artist critically reviews the given state of our mediated visual culture. By employing an experimental and innovative style, Duru proposes new forms of realistic paintings that are not afraid to also be abstract. He produces powerful landscapes, where a current understanding of landscape painting is combined with post-industrial ideas of nature.
