- What’s On
There is some blisteringly beautiful Ottoman art in the Autumn sale at Sotheby’s, including a magnficent Kemha silk brocade panel. Showcasing art from India and the Islamic world dating from the 7th to the 19th century, this sale also features masterpieces of calligraphy, painting, ceramics, metalwork, jewellery and furniture. Among the highlights are a selection of rare Arabic and Persian medieval manuscripts related to medicine, an important private collection of Indian jewellery, testifying to the sophisticated wealth of the Mughal and Rajput courts, and a selection of the finest painting, including an indescribably rare Bhagavata Purana painting by a master artist working in Kangra at the end of the 18th century.
