Howard Blake introduces the world premiere performance of Snowman Rhapsody, his solo piano concert arrangement of music drawn from the film and stage show, with Julian Trevelyan, piano, in a programme of Christmas music. They will be joined by Alison Langer, soprano; Lawrence Thackeray, tenor; Nicola Said, soprano; Jacob Bettinelli, baritone, Özlem Çelik, clarinet and Keith Beresford, piano.
Howard Blake has achieved fame as pianist, conductor and composer. His film scores include ‘The Duellists’ with Ridley Scott, ‘A Month in the Country’ and ‘The Snowman’. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 1988 and received the OBE for services to music from the Queen in 1994.
At the age of 16, the pianist Julian Trevelyan won the 2015 Long-Thibaud international piano competition. Following his success in Paris, he played the first movement of Schumann’s piano concerto on French television, Mozart’s piano concerto K271 with the Orchestre de Picardie, and has given two performances of Schumann’s piano concerto with the Wuhan Symphony Orchestra in Normandy. Julian also plays violin, sings as a tenor, and is a member of the Aldeburgh Young Musicians.
