Didem Erk’s Blue Ballad exhibition on the second floor of the Mısır Apartments is a multisensorial experience, bringing together ideas of memory, place(lessness), time(lessness) and language.
It includes the Istanbul-born artist’s ongoing Almost Blue series, which displays found objects from the sea, as well as a group of letters found around Beyoğlu.
‘I would spend so much time in Datça, looking at the sea and the blue, merely looking. It is actually the feeling of the sea and migration that got me going. Migration is not necessarily moving from one place to another: it can also be mental, spatial, or spiritual.’
