- What’s On
The Offline Viewing Room is a group exhibition of work by the Tophane gallery’s stable of artists: Gözde İlkin, Deniz Aktaş, Basim Magdy, Onur Gülfidan, Erdal Duman, Merve Çanakçı, Bahar Yürükoğlu, Serkan Demir, Fayçal Baghriche, Gökçe Erhan.
On the left of the photo above is an image of discarded tyres from a devastating series entitled Ruins of Hope by Deniz Aktaş (Diyabakır, b1987). On the floor is Map Section, by Serkan Demir (Kahramanmaraş, b1975). On the facing wall is Ticker, 2018, by Merve Çanakçı (Ordu, b1982), currently based in Germany – a large-scale patchwork of defective fabrics. Onur Gülfidan (Istanbul, b1974) painted Unserious Man, far right – his work relishes in a relentless contradiction with with reallity, with cinema, comics, animation and digital games all exerting their influence.
