The Sleep of Reason

Marc Quinn

February 8, 2014 – April 27, 2014

ARTER, İstiklâl Caddesi No. 211, Tünel, Beyoğlu

Always on top of its game since opening in 2010, ARTER’s first show of 2014 brings the works of renowned British artist Marc Quinn to Istanbul audiences. Belonging to the group known as the Young British Artists – which include contemporary paragons such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Mat Collishaw (who ARTER exhibited in 2013) – Quinn’s pieces had tremendous success at Contemporary Istanbul last year so the time is ripe for an exhaustive exhibition.

Curated by Selen Ansen, the exhibition brings together more than 30 works that Quinn has produced since 2000 spanning a wide range of media and materials. The exhibition features a number of his seminal works along with some of his most recent paintings and sculptures, which will be shown for the first time at ARTER. The exhibition’s themes encompass history, time and space, and body and identity, which the artist has been exploring since the 1990s, and delves into the relationship between nature and culture, as well the interaction between art and technology through dependency. One not to miss.
