- What’s On
Galeri Ilayda’s summer exhibition showcases the works of eleven Turkish artists working in the mediums of painting, sculpture and installation.
The highly-conceptual, wonderfully arranged exhibition attempts to reveal the different perspectives of the artists within ‘singular living conditions aimed at performing in a themeless manner without any contact with an artificial system and each under an unrestricted heading’. So in other words, anything goes.
Ozan Oganer’s sculpture of a jaguar is covered in floral lace giving a usually predatory creature a softer touch. Aysel Alver questions what is meant by beauty, ugliness, fashion and trends with her sculptures of female bodies. Damla Özdemir’s 3D collages have a retro feel and Ertuğrul Ateş’ paintings of sultans and mythical creatures are transported to large beach balls creating a playful mood.
