Cemre Yeşil

May 8, 2014 – June 15, 2014

Daire Gallery, Boğazkesen Caddesi No. 76A, Tophane, Beyoğlu

The young Turkish photographer Cemre Yeşil was nominated for the Amsterdam Photography Museum’s Paul Huf Award 2014. She presents her project ‘This was’, which focuses on personal memory, exposes the cultural conditions of sharing photographs in social media and demands us to reconsider our conception of the status of the ‘image’.

One thing that makes the artist’s photographs unique is that she pairs each image with a short phrase that describes the flux of our everyday lives. The interrelation between visuals and texts is an interesting dimension – in a world that makes us think in indicators and visual codes, these works ask us to reflect on the ideological structure of image production.

The prices range from TL500 to TL6,500.
