Kasa Galeri, Bankalar Caddesi 2, Karaköy, Istanbul

This exhibition is the result of the collaboration of the artists Ahmet Doğu İpek, Erinç Seymen and Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, and explores ideas of life, memory, death, grief, and physical and psychological traces of destructions.

Seymen’s drawing that emerged from research he did on a cemetery in London is presented alongside Bayraktar and İpek’s installations of objects which reference everyday furniture. Though the starting point of the works appear to be related to the location of the exhibition space (the gallery occupies the vaults [kasa = safe] of the landmark Minerva Han, built in the early 20th century for the Bank of Athens), and its historical memory, the show also deals with the idea of the ‘vault’ both physically and symbolically.
