- What’s On
In this exhibition, his third solo show at x-ist, Cem Dinlenmiş addresses the rapid development in Istanbul through an ironic lens – the story of an imaginary construction company named Akarca İnşaat. He approaches contemporary and social issues by combining fictitious and real events.
His canvas and wooden works, which are reminiscent of the cartoons he has drawn for Penguen, display the changes made by Akarca İnşaat, as well as different neighbourhoods that have resisted urban renewal. It is a fascinating take on the current state of the city as it continues to expand, often at an alarming pace.
