There is still time to get to Sakız adası to see this year’s DEO art project, titled ‘A Letter to an Ailing Father.’ Running till August 30th. Curator Akis Kokkinos has outdone himself again, bringing together an eclectic group of local and international artists to this gorgeous Aegean island off the coast of Turkey. The works range from painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, sound, video, installation, and digital media.
The artists include: Arda Asena (Turkey/USA), Shezad Dawood (United Kingdom), Md Fazla Rabbi Fatiq (Bangladesh), John Gerrard (Ireland), Evi Kalogiropoulou (Greece), Lito Kattou (Cyprus), Eleni Odysseos (Cyprus), Zohra Opoku (Germany/Ghana), Vasilis Papageorgiou (Greece), Cindy Sherman (USA), Kiriakos Tompolidis (Germany), Nasan Tur (Germany), Paky Vlassopoulou (Greece), and Danh Võ (Denmark/Vietnam)
’Letter to an Ailing Father’ in the northwestern village of Vollissos is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am - 2 pm and 7 pm - 10 pm. Not to be missed!
