Gertrude Bell’s life is well-documented, but her connection to Turkey has often been overlooked. In 2015, Pat Yale traced Bell’s footsteps in Turkey, resulting in the travel book “Following Miss Bell,” which combines Bell’s story with Yale’s own journey across Anatolia, attempting to climb Hasan Dağı and exploring remote Byzantine sites. Pat Yale, who specialises in Turkish travel writing for Lonely Planet, will discuss the project’s development and share discoveries during an illustrated talk. After nearly two decades in a Cappadocian cave house, Yale now resides in Istanbul.
In person lecture at Anamed Auditorium.
