New excavations in Turkey have rekindled interest in Hermogenes, the Hellenistic architect whom Vitruvius credits with a number of temple innovations. This conference brings together specialists from Turkey, Greece, and the U.S. in order to contextualize the renewed attention on Hermogenes in view of current research on temple architecture in both Greece and Turkey as well as the reception of Hellenistic architecture in Rome. Nine papers present recent excavations and research on the work of Hermogenes and its legacy.
