Olympia Auction’s upcoming European and Asian Works of Art sale, featuring a fine collection of Islamic tiles, will take place online on November 18. Majority of these tiles are from Ottoman Damascus, which emerged as an alternative industry to Iznik industry, incorporating some of its characteristics but with a different colour palette and an innovative approach to traditional Ottoman motifs.
Specialist Arthur Millner, who is cataloguing the tiles, has written extensively on the topic in his book Damascus Tiles.
