Summer Wheat’s first solo exhibition at Dirimart Dolapdere uses her sculptures and paintings to reimagine a world where women are central and powerful. Drawing on Egyptian pictographs, Native American motifs and medieval biblical illustration, Wheat creates a reality where women are the builders of society. Bees and beekeepers are a recurring motif throughout the work, bringing together a bit of chaos and danger while conjuring the image of a powerful female queen bee.
