The chorus for this concert will be the Istanbul State Turkish Folk Music Choir, while the soloists will be Çimen Yalçın and Şükrü Alkan. The AKM website tells us the following:
‘The Rumeli province remained within the borders of the Ottoman Empire for over 500 years and was one of the empire’s largest and most significant governorates. A significant portion of the cultural heritage that has survived to this day was constructed during this period. When it comes to Rumeli songs, the works in the form of folk songs composed by artisans and the public within the boundaries of the Rumeli region come to mind.’
