In celebration of the Republic’s 100th Year Anniversary, this exhibition brings to light the daily life and culture of the Republic’s first year with glimpses into art, sports, news, and everyday life. Rich black-and-white photographs, newspaper clippings, and archival records reveal how people one hundred years ago sought to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of war and radical change. Through art, books, songs, films, and sports they constructed a new Turkish identity that would define the Republic in the years to come.
Curated by Cengiz Kahraman, The Republic’s First Year is on exhibit until Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat Yayıncılık until September 3.
