Merdiven Art Space will host Ateş Alpar’s exhibition, “The Stone Shell is Silent,” from 6 to 30 June 2023. Curated by Ekmel Ertan, the exhibition sheds light on the flooding of Hasankeyf and the environmental destruction in the region, showcasing Alpar’s works that document the intertwined social, cultural, economic, and political choices that have led to long-term devastation. Alpar’s photographs evoke displacement, discrimination, destruction of nature, and resistance, inviting viewers to reflect on the invisible aspects of the images and their profound impact.
