The French clarinetist Alain Damiens and his pupils pose on the steps of the Urla Music Academy (UMA) in the Aegean town of Urla. Cornucopia is proud to be sponsoring the Academy’s annual masterclasses, which take place in September, led this year by two charismatic virtuosi, Alain Damiens (September 14–18) and the Zagreb-born horn-player Radovan Vlatković (September 25–29), who wrote after his previous visit to Urla in 2017, ‘One can feel the rich artistic tradition and heritage of this very special place.’ The masterclasses are held in the organisers’ charming historic Urla town house in the heart of old Urla. The wonderful acoustics and charming setting combine to create an inspiring atmosphere. A public recital will be given on September 28. Be sure to book early to secure a place.
