More intriguing work by Serkan Yüksel, who picks his title from Julio Cortazar’s book Instructions, in which a Hungarian scientist invents a flytrap thereby thoroughly upsetting the insects’ daily routine and breaking the fragile bond between humanity and flies. Inspired by this story, he explores the complexity of the relationship between humans and nature and examines their impact on each other. Another source of inspiration is David Cronenberg’s 1986 film “The Fly,” where a scientist, after a malfunction in a teleportation experiment resembling a ribcage, metamorphoses into a fly.
