After listening to this orchestra in November I thought to myself that there are few places in the world where one can hear a jazz concert of this quality. Every musician possessed consummate skill and professionalism. We heard fine brass playing from the five trumpets and four trombones. There was also some well-coordinated blaring from the five saxophones, and I notied that it took a great deal of musical maturity to do an encore that was ‘not of the high-energy, roistering variety, but all the musicians on the stage undoubtedly had that quality in abundance’.
