Crimean Ethnographical Museum

Vul Pushkin 18, Simferopol

Open Wednesday to Monday, 9am to 5pm. Special exhibitions and treasury (the Crimean Chest) are open from 11am to 4pm.

An exceptional collection of costumes and artefacts covering everything from silver buckles to samovars, stone babas from the pampas, and bridal costumes of the Nogays. The displays are enormously instructive for anyone planning to explore the country, and cover the gamut of ethnic and religious diversity in Crimea. The museum is housed in what was originally the Countess of Alderburg Orphanage, establised for the poorest families in Sevastapol.
