Konyalı at the Topkapı

Topkapı Palace Museum, Sultanahmet, Istanbul

For long a favourite and slightly grand restaurant at the far end of the Topkapı Palace. A fast food hamburger store asserted itself. And the main restaurant, where wine and beer have now been banned, fell into disarray last year. Hopefully the owners will reassert themselves, and visitors will once more be permitted to raise a glass of wine to Florence Nightingale as they look across the straits to her famous hospital in Üsküdar, the Selimiye Barracks. Failing which they will have no choice but to resort to the Karakol Restaurant, next to Aya Irene, in the outer courtyard of the palace.
