The Bread and Puppet Theater ((founded in New York by Peter Schumann in 1963) is collaborating with volunteers in Istanbul to stage their “Demons of Society” performance for the Biennial. The performances will feature a part of leading Turkish Karagöz master Cengiz Özek’s play “Garbage Monster”.
The project involves collaborations with many people and institutions, including Feride Eralp, Istanbul Bilgi University Management of Performing Arts Programme, Kucukcekmece Municipality and Gashouse. An extensive selection from company member John Bell’s archive of puppetry, street performance and activism will be presented at the biennial venue Barın Han.
