More than 60 artists will perform in 25 concerts at 18 different venues during the 51st Istanbul Music Festival, which will take place from June 1-17. The festival’s program is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the republic and includes traditional Turkish music, Istanbul tango compositions from the early years of the republic, and commissions inspired by important female figures from Anatolia’s history. It will feature star soloists like Anne-Sophie Mutter, Barbara Hannigan, Fazıl Say, Nicolas Altstaedt, Matthias Goerne, Arabella Steinbacher, and Avi Avital, as well as prestigious ensembles like the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Netherlands Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, and Borusan Quartet. The festival will also present eight world premieres and four Turkish premieres.
Tickets go on sale on 24 March.
