On 13 February 2020, Dr Gülşah Günata (fellow at the SARAT Project) will give a lecture on the sanctuary of Apollo at Klaros at the University of Liverpool. The sanctuary at Klaros was one of the most important oracular centres of the ancient Greek world, where people came to learn about the future and the will of the gods. One of the specific characteristics of this extra-urban sanctuary is its unusual situation being connected to two nearby cities – Kolophon and Notion. The chronology of the sanctuary extends back to the Late Bronze Age, and the religious function of Klaros continued until its abandonment in the fourth century AD without interruption.
