‘Kuşadası Modern: Architecture by Nafi Çil in Kuşadası and its Surroundings’ opens Tuesday, October 6 at 3:00 PM
Presented as part of Architecture Week 2026, ‘Kuşadası Modern: Architecture by Nafi Çil in Kuşadası and its Surroundings’ explores the city’s modern architectural heritage through projects designed by the architect and painter Nafi Çil between 1973 and 1996. The exhibition will be on view at the Kuşadası Municipality İbramaki Art Gallery from October 6 to 16, 2026.
Developed by Deniz Güner, Ela Çil, Süleyman Burçak Çıkıkçı and Deniz Naz Sipahioğlu, this exhibition brings together archival materials, oral history research and original photographs taken by Nafi Çil and Naci Örcan at the time when the buildings were first completed. By means of these materials, it documents Nafi Çil’s architectural work while tracing how the buildings – and Kuşadası itself – have changed over time.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the TMMOB Chamber of Architects Kuşadası Agency, the TMMOB Chamber of Architects İzmir Branch, Kuşadası Municipality and the Mirasın Kuşadası Hali İnsiyatifi (Kuşadası’s ‘Heritage Today Initiative’).
