Another private conglomerate’s art institution. Bozlu Art Project was established by the Bozlu Holding in 2013 and pledges to focus on ‘art beyond the accustomed cliché’. The gallery aspires to develop a discourse in all aspects of art by generating exhibitions, panels, discussions, archives, research and even new literature. Bozlu Holding’s chairman Şükrü Bozluolçay is an important art collector and has formed a collection of nearly 2,000 works of art since 1975.
The gallery currently represents eight artists including the renowned painter Balkan Naci İslimyeli, the young talented multi-media artist Volkan Diyaroğlu and the young sculptor Evren Erol.
Around six exhibitions of modern and contemporary art will be staged every year at the Nişantaşı branch, which will be the primary branch for exhibitions. In 2016 a branch was opened in the historic Mongeri Building in Şişli, which will function as the gallery’s headquarters. In addition to hosting exhibitions and art seminars, the Şişli branch will also function as a research centre, complete with a library and archive. A small part of the gallery in Şişli will be dedicated to exhibiting works from Bozluolçay’s own art collection. A third branch is set to open in Chelsea, New York, in 2016.
