- What’s On
We are thrilled that Sezai Aslan of the Wine House, Warwick, has agreed to supply our readers in the UK with fabulous Turkish wines. This is an independent Turkish wine merchant offering more than 50 different boutique Turkish wines, imported directly from some of Turkey’s most highly regarded producers. We have selected two producers who won particular accolades in Cornucopia Issue 56 – Selendi and Chamlija.
Our wine correspondent, Kevin Gould, tasted the Selendi wines at the great Turkish wine-tasting held in July 2017 in the delightful Adahan Hotel in Istanbul. A visit to their vineyards near Akhisar, just north of Manisa, will have to wait for another survey. But he did visit Chamlija, ‘Turkey’s most original winemaker’, near Lüleburgaz in the heart of Thrace (a two-hour drive from Istanbul – but make sure you don’t hit rush hour on your way back). And what a joy it was.
Cornucopia has tested the service – the wines are quite irresistable, and arrived very promptly the next day, although Mr Aslan normally guarantees a two-day delivery.
