Byzantine-Turkish Diplomacy and the Loss of Western Asia Minor

The Austrian historian Alexander Beihammer (University of Notre Dame) is preparing a monograph on the Turkish penetration of Asia Minor in the 11th and 12th centuries that reveals that the earliest stage in the so-called Turkification and Islamisation of Anatolia is a far cry from from the well-established stereotypes and concepts of national historical discourse.
