An art space founded by young contemporary artist Volkan Aslan from Turkey, and visual artist and art historian Nancy Atakan from the USA, the venue comprises of a display window designed as an exhibition area, a library containing resources about today’s art community, an archive of artists’ portfolios and a sound art section. Located in a re-decorated store in the 5th block of the IMC (Istanbul Trader’s Association), one of Istanbul’s most important business centres, 5533 aims to influence not only Istanbul’s art scene, but also the IMC communities.
