Tarabya is a peaceful, picturesque cove on the upper Bosphorus on the European side. Tarabya, once known as Therapia due to its cool breezes and healthy climate, was a popular escape for the wealthy during the hot summer months since Byzantine times. For an account of Therapia in its heyday, read Harold Nicolson’s 1921 novel, Sweet Waters. Tarabya is still popular for it’s restaurants, particularly it’s fine fish restaurants. Sumptuous summer houses built by foreign diplomats line the shores to the north and south of the cove.
