Located on the Çengelköy shore and part of the Sumahan hotel, this new-ish restaurant serves inventive tapas and meze on its broad terrace, which has the most epic view of the historic peninsula, framed by the First Bosphorus Bridge.
Executive chef Gökay Çakıroğlu makes seasonal fish and meat dishes but with a twist. The trend of fusing Turkish and Mediterranean flavours and creating something new is one sweeping a number of haute-cuisine Istanbul restaurants. This one is on the more traditional rather than completely inventive kind, but the food is still very good. The location in a restored 19th-century Ottoman distillery is a welcome plus. Do try get a table on the terrace.
