Yeni Valide Camii

Mimarsinan, Üsküdar, İstanbul

One of Üsküdar’s many mosques (not to be confused with the Yeni Cami in Eminönü), this handsome 1710 building has an attractive wooden façade. It was built by Ahmed III’s mother, who lies in a beautiful birdcage tomb open to the elements under an ironwork dome.
