We all learn from experience, but can one teach through experience? The wish to enquire and to experiment were the foundation stones of the Enlightenment, and from the day it was founded in 1870 it was a cornerstone of teaching at Istanbul’s Lycée Saint-Joseph. This fascinating exhibition, in the schools historic home is curated by Prof Dr Feza Günrgün. She brings together 80 instruments and other objects from the school’s archives and ranges from the invention of whistling kettle to neon lighting.
But quite apart from what they do, they are also fascinating objects in their own right.
