This event is part of a project – a cooperation between the İKSV and the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) – that is designed to support young woman musicians by financing their professional training at high-quality schools of music and (in some cases) releasing albums of their work. The project, which began in 2018, has so far supported 107 women.
Those who will be supported by the proceeds from this concert, at which Circle, a new composition by Ceren Türkmenoğlu, will be played, are the members of the string quartet plus nine other musicians (two flautists, a clarinettist, a horn-player, a guitarist, two harpists and two pianists). Accompanying the music will be a performance by visual artist Hilal Can, who is also supported by the İKSV Young Artist Fund.
Before the proceedings, there will be a pre-concert podcast (in Turkish) entitled Sanatta Yaratım Süreçleri – ‘The Creative Process in the Arts’ – by Efruz Çakırkaya, Ceren Türkmenoğlu and Hilal Can. It will be available from May 28 on Karnaval’s Spotify and Apple Music accounts, and on the İKSV’s Spotify account.
