With exhibitions by well-known names from Turkey and abroad, Galerist continues to be a successful and prominent cornerstone of the local art market. Its prime location in Tepebaşı, next door to the Pera Museum, makes it an essential stop on a Beyoğlu gallery tour.

Originally founded in 2001, Galerist changed owners in 2011, when a partnership between Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu and Taha Tatlıcı was formed. Galerist is a regular on the art fair circuit and hosts a handful of strong solo and group exhibitions every season.

Galerist’s roster is also formidable: there’s veteran Turkish artist Nil Yalter; Cypriot-born fashion designer Hussein Chalayan; South African artist Kendell Geers, whose work is often a response to the socio-political conditions he experienced as a white Afrikaner growing up during the apartheid; Israeli industrial artist Arik Levy; and Gavin Turk, one of the Young British Artists.
