A Warehouse of Tribal Art since 1982. Carpets, rugs, kilims, furniture, artefacts, professional rug cleaning & repair.
The Nomads Tent was established by Rufus Reade in 1983 after a journey around Turkey exploring and collecting kilims and rugs. Over time he and his colleagues sourced other goods such as furniture, textiles, artefacts for home and garden, ceramics, and jewellery. Rufus continues to arrange cultural tours to Turkey and beyond. See rufusreadetours.com
Nomads Tent holds regular selling exhibitions, talks, music and readings as well as an annual symposium. Their activities also help support the work of the international charity Mercy Corps.
Andrew Haughton the owner of Nomads Tent says “Inspired by the cultures and crafts of Iran, India, Turkey, Vietnam and Morocco and other regions, we look for authentic items from suppliers we like and trust, some of whom have worked with us for many years.”
