The museum is built into a former Byzantine cistern
The building is as interesting as its contents, as the museum is in a former tobacco factory built on a Byzantine cistern, and incorporating an Ottoman hammam. Under the aegis of Kadir Has University (Rezan Hanım is the late Kadir Has’s daughter), the museum has two sections, one with archeological finds from Neolithic to the Seljuk periods, the other with changing themes in an exhibition hall.
