The Sadberk Hanım Museum, Istanbul’s first major private museum, celebrates its 40th anniversary in October by opening a clever exhibition examining motifs shared by its Ancient and Ottoman collections. The exhibition is featured in Cornucopia 62. Wisely, considering this is Covid time, the book in itself is perhaps even more instructive, and essential for anyone with an interest in the meaning of design, as well has fun to stroll through.

The first half of the book focuses on the motifs found on objects in the museum’s collections, geometric, floral architectural, you name it, often suggesting their ancient sources. The second offers a catalogue of the objects themselves, literally hundreds of them. As always with books published by the Sadberk Hanım Museum, the printing is of the highest quality.
