Hosted by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, the Istanbul Jazz Festival is an annual event that offers a selection of jazz music performances by famous artists from all over the world.
The festival opens on July 7 at the Austrian Consulate with performances by Austrian psychedelic-rock band Takeshi’s Cashew, which expertly blends Anatolian funk, Krautrock, and Afrobeat with flutes from different cultures. On July 19, it will conclude with ‘Three Generations of Istanbul Jazz’ in celebration of the festival’s 30th anniversary, with performances by İpek Göztepe, the Selen Gülün Blue Band. The festival will be closed by the İmer Demirer Trio, which consists of İmer Demirer, Can Kozlu, and Ali Perret, all pioneering names who have significantly contributed to jazz in Turkey.
