The AKM website says nothing either about this outfit or about the works they are to perform, but the Hezarfen Ensemble’s own website tells us that they have been collaborating with the Goethe-Institut Istanbul since 2012, and that in 2022 they made their UK début in Bristol with seven new composition commissions for makam (i.e., Turkish classical or ‘art’ music) instruments. The photograph on their website, however, shows them playing Western instruments such as the violin, cello, flute, saxophone and piano. Interculturalism is sure to be on the menu.
